G&C Ladies Bowl
Several ladies on Gregory and Cook's Hastings NE spread are bowling!  Thursday's, at 11:00 AM, you'll find Pipeline Ladies knocking the pins down at Pastime Lanes in Hastings.  Fun and fellowship is the name of the game here.  No professionals allowed.  LOL.  Bowling is 2.50 per game and 1.50 for shoe rental, however, with a Russ's Market saver card you pay for 2 but get one free!  That's right... 3 for the price of two.  Everytime a lady bowls, she is also asked if she wants to participate in the PRIZE FUND.  To enter into the prize fund, when she bowls she puts $1.00 into the fund.  Before the job is finished, we will be awarding prizes, including best score, worst score, most improved, etc.  The amount of prizes and funds is obviously dependent on the number of bowlers.  A great time is being had by all!  Oh, and ladies... we are also handicapping the scores, so no matter what your bowling level your sure to be able to brag to your friends back home about that 200 game you bowled!

Ladies of 798 meeting

I recently had the pleasure of attending a "Ladies of 798" meeting.  Those of you who know me, know that my hubby is not a member of 798, but I was invited to learn of their ideas.  It was well worth my time, let me tell you.  This group of ladies have inspirational stories to tell and some ideas about bringing our Pipeline Ladies together no matter what trade or career your husband has on the line.  I'll admit, I was hesitant at first, after all...we are not 798 members, and I wasn't sure that they would want me there.  I was assured that my ideas and opinions were wanted, and hopefully I didn't disappoint.  The idea of a network of Pipeline Ladies working and playing together has long been a dream of mine.  To know that you already have a network of friends when you get to a jobsite is much needed.  To know that if you need something half way across the country that you have options, because chances are, another Pipeline Lady is close by.  These exact networking opportunities were the reason that I started Pipeline Grapevine, and hopefully with a little luck we can help them accomplish the goal.

These brave ladies still have much work to do and I wish them great luck and hope they have success in their endeavor.  I would love to see us encompass all the Ladies on the line.  Whether your husband is an inspector, laborer, teamster, welder, operator or superintendent, it takes all of them to complete the line.  In order to complete our network line and become a true Pipeline Lady of America group we need to all work together in order to complete this goal.

Kool-Aid days a hit!
Hastings, NE is the birthplace of Kool-Aid, our favorite drink as a child.  The second weekend of August each year they celebrate, what else...Kool-Aid.  The Pipeline Ladies of Gregory and Cook were very happy to volunteer their time and effort to help in the celebration.  And while the temperature reached 103 degree's the Kool-Aid fun and games were flowing thanks to their participation.

How did this start you ask?  Well, the city of Hastings has been very accommodating and friendly.  A very nice small article about the pipeline was published in the Hastings Tribune.   This led to a thank-you letter from Jean Wheatley to the editor.  From there it has snowballed!  Darran Fowler, the Tribune's managing editor then came to our last luncheon.  Next thing you know, we ladies have a very large, very complimentary article written about us!  (See the Saturday Aug 11th edition).  When Mr. Fowler learned of our desire to help the community of Hastings, he bolted into action.  From there.. it is history.  We were apart of the community, and a part of a grand celebration.

Country Meadows Invites Us Back

The ladies luncheon at Country Meadows last Wednesday has produced another opportunity for the Lady Pipeliner's in Hastings, NE.  Country Meadows,    has invited us back this next Wednesday, September 12th.  We are going to have a presentation on "power shopping."  What is that you ask?  You'll need to attend at 11:30 AM to find out.

The Chamber of Commerce of Hastings has also contacted Brenda regarding a catered luncheon.  Time and place has yet to be determined, but we'll keep you updated.
