Hastings, NE is the birthplace of Kool-Aid, our favorite drink as a child. The second weekend of August each year they celebrate, what else...Kool-Aid. The Pipeline Ladies of Gregory and Cook were very happy to volunteer their time and effort to help in the celebration. And while the temperature reached 103 degree's the Kool-Aid fun and games were flowing thanks to their participation.
How did this start you ask? Well, the city of Hastings has been very accommodating and friendly. A very nice small article about the pipeline was published in the
Hastings Tribune. This led to a thank-you letter from Jean Wheatley to the editor. From there it has snowballed! Darran Fowler, the Tribune's managing editor then came to our last luncheon. Next thing you know, we ladies have a very large, very complimentary article written about us! (See the Saturday Aug 11th edition). When Mr. Fowler learned of our desire to help the community of Hastings, he bolted into action. From there.. it is history. We were apart of the community, and a part of a grand celebration.
