WHEREAS, in February of 2007, the Rockies Express Pipeline LLC announced that it had entered into an agreement to open an office at the Hastings Municipal Airport to house the REX employees to oversee the regional operations for the company; and
WHEREAS, with the start of this operation, families of the employees arrived in Hastings to be near their loves ones; and
WHEREAS, since that time, these spouses have become part of our community, frequenting our businesses, medical facilities and entertainment venues, all having an economical impact on the community; and
WHEREAS, in their free time, these women are assisting our local agencies in a volunteer capacity, helping to improve this great quality of life; and
WHEREAS, the City of Hastings would like to show it's appreciation to these women and their families for being here in Hastings and welcome them to stay as long as they would like, or even move here permanently.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Matthew S. Rossen, Mayor of the City of Hastings, Nebraska, do hereby proclaim Monday, August 27th, 2007, as
HASTINGS PIPELINE LADIES DAY
